chicken wings cover

Every one loves chicken wings and the price for them is getting higher. When I don’t want the little wings from my regular wing place I like to make my own well seasoned chicken wings. My family always devours them and there are rarely any leftovers. This recipe can work for fresh or frozen wings, I chose frozen because that is what we had on hand. I am going to call these Herb and Spice flavored wings, but really I just used seasonings that I know taste good together. See the process and the recipe below.

Prep and season chicken wings

If you are using frozen chicken wings, make sure you thaw them out and rinse them before you begin seasoning them. Once they are ready, pat them dry and put all the wings in a bowl and marinate them with olive oil. Make sure the olive oil is evenly spread throughout the wings. Next you are going to add in your seasonings. I used pink Himalayan salt, ground black pepper, garlic powder, Rufus Teague meat rub and oregano. After seasoning the chicken I wrapped the bowl in plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator for an hour. You can refrigerate for 30 minutes or skip it all together if you are in a rush, but I think this helps the seasoning really get into the chicken.

Cooking chicken wings

These wings can be made in the air fryer or the oven. If my air fryer was working, I would have done it this way but the oven gets a good crisp on the chicken wings with the right pan. Set the oven to 450 degrees, place the wings on a crisper tray and cook for 30 minutes. Flip the wings and cook for another 15-20 minutes,, depending on how crispy you want them.
