Breakfast is my favorite food to make and eat. My go-to breakfast are easy recipes and it never takes too long. My kids love waffles and so do I. One Sunday morning I decided to make tie-dye waffles to change it up a little. I did not make them from scratch, like a lot of recipes you will find. I made them with “just add water” pancake/waffle box mix. Although I do not just add water. Instead of water, I use almond milk and add a teaspoon of vanilla extract. These tie-dye waffles are great for weekends and special occasions. The best part is the kids can join in also. Check the recipe below.

Ingredients
Equipment
Method
- Heat up waffle maker and spray non-stick oil
- Make waffle mix according to box, but substituting milk for water
- Add vanilla extract
- Separate mix evenly in zip lock bags
- add 2-3 drops of one food coloring per bag
- Mix food coloring into mix gently, by pressing the batter around

- Cut one small corner off of each bag
- Add a little of each color to the waffle maker until you have a complete waffle
- Let cook for set time
- Once done optionally top with butter and/or syrup and enjoy
Mila was recording the video of me pouring in the batter for the tie-dye waffles, as she was singing so it is a little wobbly. They tasted great and we will definitely be making them again. It does get a little messy and sticky. For another recipe to make with kids, check out this cookie recipe we made over the holidays.
