Beyond Burger meal

Plant-based “meat” is trending right now, more restaurants are adding them to their menus. For a person who doesn’t eat beef, or wants a different meat for their burger, this is great. But, no one should regularly pay $15+ for a burger that they can make themselves. I love burgers, and I’m a really big fan of the Beyond Burger. They are my favorite beef alternative for the price, taste and ingredients. Let me help you save some coins with a few ingredients to make it super delicious and taste almost like real beef or ground turkey.

Seasonings

The key to making the Beyond Burger taste good, is to use seasonings that you would normally use on a real meat. In my opinion, plant-based needs a little bit more so it can fully absorb the flavor of the seasonings.

Beyond burger ingredients

I kept it super simple and easy. Before I put the Beyond burgers on the grill pan, I seasoned one side with 2-3 drops of Worcestershire sauce and about 14 teaspoon of McCormick’s Grill Mates ‘Hamburger’ seasoning. This seasoning has all the ingredients I would use separately in one. It includes; salt, black pepper, garlic, sugar, chili pepper and more. Think about it this way, whatever you would put on a real meat burger is going to taste good on a plant-based.

Toppings for Beyond Burger

What is a burger without toppings? Boring and forgettable, but a Beyond Burger needs to be just that, beyond. Every time I make a burger I use a different condiment and toppings because I always want to try different flavors.

Raw toppings like; lettuce, tomato, onion are not that appetizing on the Beyond Burger, in my opinion. I prefer to saute my veggies. This time I used Vidalia onions, red pepper and spinach. I put them in the grill pan first with olive oil, salt and a little sugar and sauteed for 3-4 minutes. After that I added the burgers seasoned side down, then seasoned the other side accordingly. I cooked each side about 4 minutes.

Finish for a delicious bite

Now you got the seasonings and toppings time for the finished product. I placed the burger on a toasted brioche bun and spread Dijon mustard made with chardonnay on the top bun. I made some turkey bacon that I seasoned with brown sugar and salt and placed that on the mustard. On the bun with no condiment I put the Beyond Burger, sauteed veggies and sprinkled grated Parmesan cheese on top. My mouth is watering now thinking about how good it was. I had a baked sweet potato on the side. Perfect easy meal for just yourself or the whole family.

  2. Please tell me you know that worcestershire sauce is NOT VEGETARIAN! Anchovy is a key ingredient in worcestershire!

    1. Hey Dean, I really appreciate you reading my article. But I’m sorry I missed the part where I said this was a vegetarian dish. I topped my burger with turkey bacon. This recipe is for people who eat meat but want to try out a “meat-less” burger and make it flavorful.🙂
