Summertime is upon us and the kids are out of school, ready to get into the fun the summer has to offer. Camp is much more expensive this year, so if you’re like me and your kids are mostly going to be at home you might need ideas. In this list of things to do in Atlanta for families you can find free and fun events, educational and fun. There are quite a bit of Juneteenth celebrations going on around the city that are free as well. Plus at the bottom of the list I have 4 events that are for adults only, when you can get a babysitter.

Holiday Things To Do In Atlanta

Juneteenth Festival at J.R. Crickets S. Cobb, June 12
This annual festival will feature activities, vendors, and entertainment for the entire community. There will also be a Hot Wing-Eating contest, Father-Kid Look-A-Like contest and a dance off. Inflatables for the kids as well. This event is free to the public.

Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival at Centennial Olympic Park, June 17-19
There are so many things to do for this epic celebration of the National Holiday. There will be a Black History parade throughout the city, music artists, speakers, food and much more. All free to the public.

Cobb County NAACP Juneteenth Weekend at The Marietta Square, June 17-19
The square will have a lot of things to do for the holiday weekend. On Friday night wnjoy an “evening under the stars” with R&B performances. On Sat, enjoy a festival with a musical performance and Sunday celebrate Father’s Day.

The Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame Juneteenth Celebration at The Home Depot Backyard, June 18
This is a celebration of recognizing and honoring trailblazing artists and entertainers who have impacted Black culture. There will be live entertainment, food, music, dancing and fun things to do for the whole family. Free event, must register.

Jubilee on the Lawn at Atlanta History Center, June 19
Celebrate Juneteenth at the History Center while exploring the history of Black innovation, life and excellence in Atlanta. Along with a party on the lawn with music, games, food and drinks. All free, registration recommended.

Juneteenth Fest at Riverside Park, June 19
If you are near Roswell celebrate Black culture and Black Father’s. There will be Black vendors to shop from, Black-owned cuisine, and a dad’s “dance off” for prizes. Plus sprayground open for kids to play in.

Looking for things to do for your little ones, bring them to tot spot. There will be crafts, sing-a-longs, snacks and more. Perfect for age 5 and under.

Pull out your blankets and chairs and bring your family out to watch the movie Luca. Bring your own food and drinks, movie begins at 7pm.
