Summertime is upon us and the kids are out of school, ready to get into the fun the summer has to offer. Camp is much more expensive this year, so if you’re like me and your kids are mostly going to be at home you might need ideas. In this list of things to do in Atlanta for families you can find free and fun events, educational and fun. There are quite a bit of Juneteenth celebrations going on around the city that are free as well. Plus at the bottom of the list I have 4 events that are for adults only, when you can get a babysitter.
Holiday Things To Do In Atlanta
Juneteenth Festival at J.R. Crickets S. Cobb, June 12
This annual festival will feature activities, vendors, and entertainment for the entire community. There will also be a Hot Wing-Eating contest, Father-Kid Look-A-Like contest and a dance off. Inflatables for the kids as well. This event is free to the public.
Juneteenth Atlanta Parade and Music Festival at Centennial Olympic Park, June 17-19
There are so many things to do for this epic celebration of the National Holiday. There will be a Black History parade throughout the city, music artists, speakers, food and much more. All free to the public.
Cobb County NAACP Juneteenth Weekend at The Marietta Square, June 17-19
The square will have a lot of things to do for the holiday weekend. On Friday night wnjoy an “evening under the stars” with R&B performances. On Sat, enjoy a festival with a musical performance and Sunday celebrate Father’s Day.
The Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame Juneteenth Celebration at The Home Depot Backyard, June 18
This is a celebration of recognizing and honoring trailblazing artists and entertainers who have impacted Black culture. There will be live entertainment, food, music, dancing and fun things to do for the whole family. Free event, must register.
Jubilee on the Lawn at Atlanta History Center, June 19
Celebrate Juneteenth at the History Center while exploring the history of Black innovation, life and excellence in Atlanta. Along with a party on the lawn with music, games, food and drinks. All free, registration recommended.
Juneteenth Fest at Riverside Park, June 19
If you are near Roswell celebrate Black culture and Black Father’s. There will be Black vendors to shop from, Black-owned cuisine, and a dad’s “dance off” for prizes. Plus sprayground open for kids to play in.
Free Things To Do In Atlanta
Tot Spot at Atlantic Station, June 14
Looking for things to do for your little ones, bring them to tot spot. There will be crafts, sing-a-longs, snacks and more. Perfect for age 5 and under.
Screen on The Green at Atlantic Station, June 23
Pull out your blankets and chairs and bring your family out to watch the movie Luca. Bring your own food and drinks, movie begins at 7pm.
Sports Things To Do in Atlanta
Atlanta Braves World Series Ring Giveaway at Truist Park, June 8
Come watch the Braves take on the Oakland A’s. The first 40,000 fans will receive the replica version of the World Series Ring. If you miss out on this one you’ll have one last chance on July 11.
Atlanta Braves Playball Weekend at Truist Park, June 10-12
The Braves will be taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates this celebration weekend. There will be interactions with the players, activities for kids including running the bases, and more.
Atlanta United Tailgating at The Home Depot Backyard, June 14 & 19
Get hype and ready to cheer on the Atlanta United in this tailgating experience. There will be games, food and fun for the whole family. Held right outside the stadium.

Art Gone Wild at Zoo Atlanta, June 6-10, June 17-19
For the first week of art gone wild, see artist make original art pieces inspired by the animals and available for purchase. During the 2nd week shop the art gone wild market.
The Second Sunday at High Museum, June 12
This is a free event for the family, only registration required. Explore the museum, enjoy the things to do such as jamming with the DJ and drop-in art making.
Summer at the Rock at Stone Mountain Park, June 11- July 31
Now that school is out, Stone Mountain has added new summer attractions for you and your family. Including sprayground, waterworks, dinosaur excavation and more. Plus the laser show every night.
Wild Kratts: Creature Power at The Children’s Museum, June 11- September 5
Let your creature powers free in this immersion of the Wild Kratts world. Discover animal habitats and defeat the villains.
Imagine Picasso: The Immersive Art Exhibit at Pullman Yards, now – June 19
This is 360- degree immersive experience that combines art and technology. Guests will be able to see 200+ Picasso pieces brought to life from museums and private collections. Tickets $22 and up.
World Giraffe Day at Zoo Atlanta, June 21

O’ Keeffee at Illuminarium, now – June 30
Modern artist Georgia O’ Keeffee art works are coming to life. Her famous painting One Hundred Flowers is displayed along with an all female soundtrack. Cost $25-40
Candytopia on Piedmont Rd, now- July 31
Explore this candy museum with lots of photo opportunities, samples of candy to try and a chance to dip into the marshmallow pit. Kids 3 and under free, tickets $29-36.

This hit Bob Marley musical is hitting the stage and is great for the whole family. Based on the story by Cedella Marley and features music and lyrics from the hit song.
Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival at The Fox Theatre, June 18-25
Enjoy classic Saturday morning cartoons on the big screen. Also enjoy family movies such as Coco and Indiana Jones. Tickets are $10.
The Rock & Roll Playhouse Play Bob Marley Music for Kids at Terminal West, June 19
Bring your kids to this family-friendly concert and hear all of your favorite Bob Marley tunes. Tickets $15.
Things To Do In Atlanta for Adults Only
June High Frequency Friday at The High Museum, June 3
