On Sunday mornings I like to make a full breakfast for our family. We are not going to restaurants with the kids as much and breakfast is one of our favorite meals to have. I like to make the things that we order out and make it my own, with mommy love. This past Sunday I made french toast and it was a hit. I looked around on Pinterest for the perfect recipe, but I ended up making my own.
Ingredients for french toast
The key to good french toast is the bread, I love Brioche and I think that taste the best and it does not get soggy. For your mixture you will need 3-4 eggs, I used 3 full eggs and 1 egg white I liked that consistency the best. Milk and vanilla extract will be your other liquids, I used almond milk. To add flavor you will need to add the seasonings; nutmeg, cinnamon and white sugar. All of these will be combined.
How to make french toast
Once you have everything mixed together you are ready to get started cooking. It is less messy and easiest if you use a pie pan to contain the mixture. Go ahead and start to melt some butter in your pan, I started with about a tablespoon. Then dip each side of a slice of bread in the mixture and make sure it is fully coated. Put the bread down in the pan and let it cook for about 2-3 minutes per side. You can make it to your liking, we like our french toast to have a little crisp on the edges.

My son loved this french toast and I saved the mixture, so we can make it again later this week. Let me know if you try this and how it turns out, also if you substitute anything. For another breakfast idea, check out how I made my leftovers into brunch.
