It’s funny how the longer you are a mother you appreciate your own so much more. Especially during the toddler/tantrum years and, soon for me, the teenage years. The sacrifices that mothers go through and the constant need of our children makes us true gems. I want to dedicate this post as a Mother’s Day appreciation for my mom, grandmothers, aunts and mom friends. They say it takes a village and this tribe has helped shape me into the mom I am today.
To My Mom
Thank you, I want to show you some Mother’s Day appreciation! You did an awesome job raising my sisters and I. I know that you always pushed me to be my best and help me strive for what was best for me. There were definitely times and maybe still are times where I was stubborn and wasn’t taking your advice. I see some of that in my daughter and now I get how you felt. When I’ve been sad or let down, you have always been someone I can count on. Now I get to see you spoil your grandchildren and give them the love of not only a mother, but a grandmother too. I love you so much.
Mother’s Day Appreciation for My Grandmothers and Aunts
I am very blessed to have both of my grandmothers still living and providing me with golden nuggets of life. You go to your grandma’s when you can’t get what you want from your parents. Haha, just kidding…sort of. But for real thank you to Mama Joice and Nana for being real lights in my life. Being guidance to the Lord and inspirations for me and my children. A grandmothers love is so special and I’ so grateful to still feel that. To my wonderful aunts, I adore you so much. Aunts are probably the most non-judgmental mom-like figures in your life. I’m lucky that all of my aunts are also moms. So I can get that motherly advice from them as well. You are awesome, thank you and Happy Mother’s Day.
For My Mom Friends
Out of my close circle of friends I was the first to become a mom and that was scary. This Mother’s Day appreciation is for you all being there with me from the beginning. To see you all become moms has been so special. It’s great that our kids can be friends as well. To be able to grow my circle of mom friends within my community has been awesome. I love having the support of other experienced moms that are navigating the school system with me. Mom friends are an essential part of the village.
To all my bomb moms, make sure you get a moment for self care and love on yourself today.
