My kids love spaghetti, lasagna and mozzarella sticks dipped in marinara sauce. We have a dish with tomato sauce in it every week. For cost effectiveness and because I like to cook I make my own specialty sauce. It takes only 10 min to prep and cook then just let it simmer. I always make enough to use for 2-3 dishes. My homemade marinara sauce is much more flavorful than store bought and comes out cheaper.
Ingredients for Homemade Marinara Sauce
The ingredients for my homemade marinara sauce are really simple. Most of the necessities you probably already have in your pantry and seasoning cabinet. This sauce consists of; garlic, canned diced tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste, ketchup, basil, oregano, sugar, cayenne pepper and red pepper flakes. Mix it all up in the sauce pan and let it simmer for 30 minutes or longer. That’s it when it’s done put it with your spaghetti meat, pasta or homemade pizza and enjoy.
