We still have a few more weeks left of summer and fun with the family. This month there are quite a few things to do for families and even adult friends can enjoy together. Come next month, most of us will be getting back into the school routine and busyness of work and upcoming holidays. Take the time to enjoy the weather and slower pace of the summer and check out one of these activities and events for families of all kinds.

Fantastic Fourth Celebration at Stone Mountain Park, July 1-5
Come during the day and enjoy the attractions and live entertainment. In the evening see one of America’s most spectacular fireworks show and laser show.

Honestly not a big fan of this holiday anymore, but out of all the celebrations this one in Johns Creek seems like the most fun. Block Party Experience is performing, food trucks and alcohol will be for sale as well.

Star Spangled Beach Party at Callaway Gardens, July 2-4
Want the beach feel of the holiday, but don’t want to leave Georgia? Callaway Gardens has lots of things to do for families; enjoy food, watersports, putt putt, beach volleyball and more. Plus fireworks all three nights.

Fourth of July Parade, Festival and Fireworks at Marietta Square, July 3
This Independence Day celebration will have lots of things for families to do. Begin with a community parade, kid zone, food and activities during the day and fireworks to end the night

Celebrate the day by cheering on the Braves. The first 3000 kids get a free Ronald Acuna Jr. bobblehead.

Concert and Fireworks at Lake Acworth, July 4
If you are wanting to be on the water to celebrate the holiday, then this is for you. Enjoy live music, hang out on the lake and watch the fireworks at night

Bring the family, your blankets and chairs to watch Grease Sing-a-Long on the big screen for free. Movie trivia starts at 6:30 and the movie starts at 7.

This is a thing to do for families with kids 5 and under. They can enjoy storytime, kids yoga, sing-a-longs and snacks all for free on the green.

Improv on the Green at Atlantic Station, July 14
This event can be for the whole family or you and your adult friends. Bring your blanket or chair and come see some improv from Whole World Improv Theatre.

Pet Adoption Event at Atlantic Station, July 16
If your family is looking to add a cat or dog as an addition then make sure you check out this event. Best Friends Society will have furry friends available for immediate adoption.

Home depot backyard things to do for families

Summer Movie Experience at Home Depot Backyard, July 23
Right behind Mercedes-Benz Stadium you can chill out on the lawn and enjoy a movie with family and friends. There will be a pop-up market, kid zone, food trucks and more.

Come visit the zoo at night to see the nocturnal animals, enjoy a scavenger hunt and interactive experiences. For all ages but activities are for ages 6 and up.

Adventure Cubs at Zoo Atlanta, July 3 and 20
Kids 5 and under can learn all about an animal in the zoo with engaging activities. There will be a different theme every month and registration includes zoo admission.

The circus is in town! Be entertained by this cultural circus including entertaining acts such as motorcyclist, trapeze artist, clowns and more.

The FRIENDS Experience at Perimeter Pointe, July 15 – September 6
This might not be something the whole family will like, but maybe you and your friends (no pun intended) will enjoy the experience of the 12 recreated sets of the hit show Friends.

Get up close and personal with snakes, tortoises, lizards and more. This will be a morning/early afternoon only event.

Slip-N-Slide Extravaganza at Leita Thompson Park, July 17
This FREE thing to do family will have three slides to go down, two of them 200 ft long. Sliders are encouraged to bring their own inner tubes. Reservations required for time slots

Sunflower Festival at Cooper Creek Farm, now thru July 24
Enjoy all the farm favorites from Hay Rides, pony rides, corn pit and more plus a field of beautiful sunflowers that you can cut and take home with you. Lots of things to do for families.

Bring the family out to see the world famous Harlem Globetrotters. The Spread Game Tour will include all the cool tricks and moves, interactive family entertainment and raw talent.

Candytopia in Buckhead now thru July 31
If you have ever imagined going to real life Candyland then this is for you. Explore this candy musuem with lots of treats to eat along the way. Your kids will be so happy!

The Ugly Duckling at Center for Puppetry of Arts, now thru July 31
Enjoy this favorite story about a duck not fitting in and finding his true self. Younger kids will love this puppet show. Tickets include admission to the Worlds of Puppetry Museum.

Experience the wild life in the Africa Savanna in this groundbreaking virtual reality experience. You will see all the animals up close and even feel their steps and smell them. This event for the family sounds super cool to me.

Nature Ninjas at Fernbank Museum of Natural History, now thru September 6
See live animals including, iguanas, armadillos, dart frogs and more in meet and greet presentations. Animals that can transform in many ways to hide from their predators or prey. If you or your kids are into reptiles this a thing to do for you.

Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab at Children’s Museum of Atlanta, now thru Sept 7
Bring your kids to explore Thomas Edison’s lab. They will engage in STEM activities, that are hands-on and fun. This is a great thing to do to get their imagination going.

Garden Grooves at Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Thursdays, now- October
Looking for some thing to do that is creative? Check out this music program for kids 2-5 where they can dance and play instruments. Under the Great lawn, free with admission and all supplies provided.

SUPERnatural: Aerial Art in Motion, Glass Art in Bloom at Atlanta Botanical Garden, now thru October 31
See a custom created skynet called Dream Flora which is an aerial sculpture, and also oversized glass floral art in the gardens. This display can be viewed indoor and outdoors

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience at Pullman Yards, now thru November 15
Experience Van Gogh’s paintings like never before. This immersive experience is great for all ages. It is a 20,000 square foot light and sound show featuring projections of the artist’s most famed work. Some thing to do that is out of the box.
