Fall family activity

My favorite time of year is here and this is the best time to bond with my family as we get ready for the holidays. I love going to pumpkin patches, festivals and anything to get in the Halloween spirit. The weather is really nice and it’s also a great time to take family holiday photos with the beauty of the changing of the trees. In this list of 30 fall family activities and events, you can find interactive activities, learning, holiday related and free in and around Atlanta. Colony Kids at Colony Square, September 28
Colony Square plaza, in midtown Atlanta will be turned into a free play date. There will be live entertainment, games and activities during this family-friendly event. September theme is around the world.

Second Sunday at High Museum, October 10
Bring your family to see some great art work for free. Enjoy a DJ on the plaza, drop in art making and a dance workshop. Make sure to register for your (free) tickets

Atl station

Tot Spot at Atlantic Station, October 12
This event is for families with kids 5 and under. They can enjoy giant bubbles, crafts, story time, kids yoga, sing-a-longs and snacks all for free on the green.

Truck-or-Treat at Swift Cantrell Park, October 16
A little north of Atlanta, visit construction trucks, fire trucks, cool cars and specialty vehicles giving out treats.There will also be costume contests, games, scavenger hunt, music and more.

Atlanta Pizza Festival at Atlantic Station, October 2
Everyone loves pizza, this Fall family activity will have pizza cooked on site in Neapolitan ovens. There will be live music, adult beverages and more. VIP tickets will include unlimited sampling of pizza and swag.

avenue east cobb

Fall Fest at The Avenue East Cobb, October 9
Enjoy an afternoon of Fall family fun. There will be face painting, interactive activities, hayrides, balloon art and more. This is a free event.

marietta Fall family event

Harvest Fest at Marietta Square, October 16
This Fall family event will include; arts and crafts, games, inflatables, Djs and more. Come see the scarecrows in the park and/or be a part of the costume contest and pie eating contest for all ages.

Halloween Fun House at East Roswell Recreation Center, October 22
Bring your kids 8 and under to this Fall family event with face painting, hayrides, inflatables and carnival games. Costumes are encourage.

Pumpkins at Callaway Gardens, now- October 31
This new Fall family festival is great in the day in night. Enjoy the pumpkins and sculptures during the day and watch the ground glow at night with an enchanted forest and more. Have a mini getaway from Atlanta and stay at the resort.

Fall Fun at Still Family Farm, Sat-Sun now- Oct. 31
What is more classic than visiting a pumpkin patch in the Fall? This farm will have that plus hay rides, zinnia maze and much more. Children 4 and under are free, no pre-sell tickets

Fall Fun at Sleepy Hollow Farm, Wed-Sun, now- Oct 31
My family goes to this pumpkin patch every year. It has tractor rides, a corn pit, playground, corn maze, live animals and more. We really enjoy this Fall family event.

Apple Picking at Hillcrest Orchards, now- October 31
If you don’t mind taking a little trip away from Atlanta to Elijay, you can do this great Fall family activity. Enjoy apple picking, wagon rides, playground, corn maze and more.

Chastain Park Arts Festival at Chastain Park, Nov 6-7
This festival will include; arts and crafts, children’s area, concessions, food truck and more. These will be great outdoor Fall family activities to bond together.

Museums and Attractions

North Georgia State Fair at Jim R. Miller Park, now- October 3
The fair is in town and this has been a Fall family event I have participated in since I was a kid. There are games, rides, shows and of course your favorite fair food. 10 and under are free.

Black Panther in Concert at Atlanta Symphony Hall, October 1-3
Watch the Oscar winning movie Black Panther and hear the soundtrack performed live by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. This is an experience that will be like no other. Vaccines or negative Covid test are required.

FANTAstic Halloween at World of Coca-Cola, October 1-31
World of Coca- Cola is having a Fall family event that includes, interactive activities, Halloween themed photos and a new flavor reveal from Fanta

Twilight Trek at Zoo Atlanta, October 2 and 15
Tour the zoo at night and use night vision technology to see the animals you don’t see during the day. Registration required, kids 3 and under free.

Kids 5 and under can learn all about an animal in the zoo with engaging activities. There will be a different theme every month and registration includes zoo admission.

This Disney Original Movie is coming to the stage for two weekends this fall. If your kids are constantly singing the songs from these movies this is their chance to see it in person.

Capturing The Spirit of Oakland Halloween Tours, at Oakland Cemetery October 14- 31
If you really want to get into the Halloween spirit then check out this tour. “Designed to enlighten, not frighten.” You can learn about the people buried in the historic cemetery and tourist are encouraged to come in costume.

This is not just a scary Fall family event. The amusement park will have family-friendly activities during the day and thrills and chills in the evening.

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience at Pullman Yards, now- November 28
Experience Van Gogh’s paintings like never before. This immersive experience is great for all ages. It is a 20,000 square foot light and sound show featuring projections of the artist’s most famed work.

WILD! Safari Experience at Illumanarium, now thru December 31
Experience the wild life in the Africa Savanna in this groundbreaking virtual reality experience. You will see all the animals up close and even feel their steps and smell them. This event for the family sounds super cool to me.
