As you guys know, I enjoy cooking. It has become one of my hobbies that I took up during quarantine and now I really love it and trying different recipes. I have yet to cook on the grill, and I was craving some grilled salmon. I decided that I was going to conquer the grill last week. My daughter does not eat salmon, so I also grilled chicken, however the salmon was the star. I went in to this mostly blind (without looking at recipes), I only looked at how long the salmon should be on the grill. That is why it is called “mommy tries” because sometimes you just have to try new things, with just enough know how. So here is my recipe for grilled salmon.
Seasoning and marinating grilled salmon
The key to grilling any meat is a good seasoning and/or marinade. I marinated the salmon about 30 minutes before I put it on the grill. It was a very simple seasoning. I used about a teaspoon of olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, Pink Himalayan salt, and pepper. You may think that is not enough for tasty grilled salmon, but there is more. The key to this salmon being melt in your mouth delicious was the herb butter. My husband graciously made the butter using sauteed garlic, rosemary, celery seed, basil, thyme and more. Because he made it, I do not have the exact measurements just an estimate. I did not apply the butter until right before I put the salmon on the grill.
Cooking time for grilled salmon
I like my salmon to be done at a medium temperature. You have to be careful with grilled salmon especially, because it can cook pretty fast. For reference, we have a gas grill. I did season the skin on the salmon as well, because a little grilled skin taste good too. Once I applied the butter I put the salmon on the grill skin down. The skin had a little oil on it to prevent from sticking. I closed the grill and let that cook for 4-5 minutes. Turn over the salmon and cook for 3-4 minutes. I added more butter as it cooked and it turned out great.
